Celebrating Cultural Heritage through Videos

Engaging youth in Palestinian culture

This twelve month project is intended to promote Palestinian heritage and cultural diversity, in addition to empowering Palestinian youth to assume leadership in the cultural sphere.

Participants in the program will produce five videos documenting different aspects of Palestinian heritage that illustrate cultural diversity. Themes covered by these videos will include:

1.    Palestinian storytelling – hekaya.
2.    Traditional Palestinian wedding and its rituals in different groups: Bedouin, peasant; and different geographical areas or cities. 
3.    Performing arts such as dabkeh dancing and songs.
4.    Palestinian traditional games: hajlah, kalah.
5.    Poem reciting -zajal and poetry contests – haddayeh.

The videos will be produced at a work unit established at Leaders and the program will include the development of technical skills associated with video production.

Celebrating Cultural Heritage through Videos is implemented by Leaders in partnership with Europe Direct Mosta.
