Leaders Organization, with the cooperation of Al-Amari youth club, started the first stage of preparation for building a rescue and emergency team of Al-Amari camp. Such a team is of great importance according to the youth who took part in the needs assessment study conducted by Leaders Organization at the end of last year.



Community Outreach Officer at Leaders Organization Zaher Bassioni noted that sufficient efforts are exerted on such activities in a bid to build young leaders and allow them to serve their communities. Bassioni also pointed out that members of Al-Amari Youth Center have referred to the fact that the old infrastructure in the refugee camp prevent rescue vehicles from accessing the camp; thus, there is an urgent necessity to form a local team to provide assistance at times of emergencies.



The first stage of building a local emergency team includes a training course on first aid for a two-month period of about 30 training hours, whereby 16 male and female participants form the camp take part in the training. The course will be followed by a second training course on disaster management, in addition to other courses on developing individual and teamwork skills. Leaders Organization, furthermore, aims to provide the team with needed material and tools.
